With a largely integrated supply chain; from feedlot, through processing to hide curing, we can maintain the quality through our hides production process.
The Dinmore Hide Plant has been in operation for over 15 years, allowing in-house processing of hides from our various beef processing facilities in one single location.
The site operates 24 hours a day across 2 shifts, 6 days a week, to accommodate the high volume of hides produced across the 5 JBS Northern beef processing facilities.
The Dinmore Hide Plant also has first-of-its-kind equipment in Australia, recovering and reusing salt from excess brine so no salt solution is released into the environment.
After curing, our hides are graded depending on the thickness, size, colour and quality and region the animal was sourced. The different grades have different uses in the leather industry such as premium leather items proceeding into luxury handbags and car upholstery. With lower quality hides going into items such as shoe leather or belts. One of the many benefits of our integrated supply chain is knowing the source of our hides which better enables accurate quality grading.
