JBS Australia, part of the global JBS business, is the largest and most respected meat and food processor in Australia with a strong portfolio of leading beef, lamb, pork, salmon and value-added products.

Globally, JBS is the largest animal protein business and the largest food company in the world, with operations in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

The history of JBS takes us back to 1953, when our founder, José Batista Sobrinho, who’s initials the business is named after, started operations in a small plant. With capacity for processing five cattle per day, in the city of Anápolis, Goiás, in the Brazilian Midwest region, JBS was born.

Now operating in over 20 countries, not only with a diverse protein portfolio, but operating a number of correlated businesses, such as Leather, Biodiesel, Collagen, Natural Casings for cold cuts, Hygiene & Cleaning, Metal Packaging, Transportation, and solid waste management solutions, recycling, innovative operations which all promote the sustainability of the entire business value chain.

Our Story

The Australian operation came under JBS ownership in 2007, following the acquisition of a number of businesses which have continued over the past near 20 years.

With strategically located feedlots and beef processing plants across Australia, JBS has access to an extensive network of quality cattle to deliver a variety of branded beef programs to meet the needs of our diverse customer base. Grass fed, grain fed, breed specific or organic; we have a branded program to suit every customer.

Grass and grain fed cattle volumes place the business in a unique position to meet the growing demand of global consumers. Today, JBS Australia exports to more than 50 countries, whilst maintaining a significant market share in the domestic beef market.

Our products are underpinned by the strong focus towards food safety and quality systems that have been developed and embedded within the processing and value-added facilities. We have a relentless approach to ensure we meet our food safety goals and targets. Led and managed by experienced Food Safety Managers at each processing site, the JBS Australia Food Safety Systems are regularly reviewed and approved by the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.
